The MCAA program offers an opportunity for girls ages 8 through 18 to play fastpitch softball in the Spring and Fall seasons.
Teams: Teams are formed at the 10U, 12U, 15U, and 18U age levels. The number of teams at each age level depends on the number of players who sign up to play. If there is more than one team in an age group, the teams are drafted and balanced by skill level. There is no limit on the number of teams that MCAA will field in any age bracket. MCAA also has cooperative agreements with the Ingomar-Franklin Park (IFPAA) and Brad-Mar-Pine fastpitch softball associations. Rosters may be combined if enough players do not sign up at a specific age level. This insures that any girl desiring to play fast pitch softball will have a team to play on, regardless of which league she originally registers for.
Games: Spring fastpitch games are typically scheduled Monday through Thursday and only infrequently on weekends (usually make-up games). MCAA fastpitch teams participate in the Greater Pittsburgh Girls Softball League (GPGSL). The games are held at one of MCAA’s fields, or other fields in the North Hills area. There are usually 14 to16 games a season with pay umpires. Teams get full uniforms (shirts and shorts).
Player Development: The MCAA fastpitch softball program provides an opportunity for girls to develop the athletic and competitive skills needed to try out for their school fastpitch softball teams.
Fall Ball: MCAA also sponsors a Fall fastpitch program at all age levels. This is a cooperative program with the North Allegheny Softball Boosters sponsoring the 15U and 18U teams. The 10U and 12U teams combine with two neighboring assoiciations (IFPAA and Brad Mar-Pine) to field teams. Most fall games are doubleheaders on Saturdays and Sundays with travel occurring within the Greater Pittsburgh area.
